  • Advice

    Whenever you type in quotes about debt onto search engines the top adverts are from firms who have paid to be at the top of the listings. They offer tempting solutions such as “Write off unaffordable debt”, “Government lets you write off debt”, “Write off your debts” etc, etc. There have even been clone firms pretending to be charities. Be extremely careful before you click away as they can trick you into accepting terms and conditions (how often do we really read them?).

    In short, they prey on the most vulnerable and desperate in society, they will advise you to take the route that gives them the most income – NOT what’s in your best interest.

    There are effectively four pays to get rid of debt,

    • Repay it – if you are struggling let them know, most lenders are very helpful;
    • Debt Relief orders;
    • IVAs; and
    • Bankruptcy.

    The last three are covered in their specific section, choosing which one is right for you could be tricky, you should not need to pay anyone to help as they all come with a specialist included in the fee to walk you through everything.

    How we can help

    Lestons deplore the companies that appear on the top of Google searches as they are there to pray on the most vulnerable, the phrase “too good to be true” applies to them all. We would suggest to our clients that they tackle their debts without recourse to false promises. Lestons are not financial advisors, however we work with several excellent third-party independent financial advisors who can look at your situation and make recommendations.

    Please note we make no commission from these referrals but do need clients to open a case so that we can prepare a financial brief for them. To gain our assistance you need to open a case, this is done by simply clicking on the link at the top of the page, you will then need to deposit a sum equal to one hour’s usage, upon receipt of these funds you will be assigned your personal caseworker who will telephone you to discuss the matter and make suggestions on how to proceed.

    Please note your caseworker can only give generic advice, their role is to prepare your details for handling by our appointed financial advisor and to act as your point of contact, they will also issue you with your Password and PIN, these will be needed to log onto your client dashboard. From your dashboard you will be able to manage and view every aspect of your case, upload documents, images, files etc.
