When you have been denied a loan, you will be notified of this by the loan company. You will also be notified of which credit reference agency was used to check your credit research file. You also have the option to contact the loan company and request information on the reasoning behind why you were refused a loan. However, they are under no legal obligation to supply you with a detailed explanation of their reason.

Once you have a copy of your credit file, if there is a mistake in the file, you can dispute it. To do this, you will need to write to the credit research agency explaining the error and providing evidence of any mistakes. The agency will have 28 days to resolve this dispute. Applying for loans after you have been denied one is a choice to be thought over carefully. It is recommended that you obtain a recent credit report confirming the issue has been resolved before applying again, as any subsequent applications made will show up on your credit file and could damage your credit rating.

    How we can help

Lestons can assist with obtaining an explanation of the refusal reasons, and if requested we can appoint one of our excellent third-party independent financial advisors who can look at the market for you to try and get you a loan. Please note we make no commission from these referrals but do need clients to open a case so that we can prepare a financial brief for them. To gain our assistance you need to open a case, this is done by simply clicking on the link at the top of the page, you will then need to deposit a sum equal to one hour’s usage, upon receipt of these funds you will be assigned your personal caseworker who will telephone you to discuss the matter and make suggestions on how to proceed.

Please note your caseworker can only give generic advice, their role is to prepare your details for handling by our appointed financial advisor and to act as your point of contact, they will also issue you with your Password and PIN, these will be needed to log onto your client dashboard. From your dashboard you will be able to manage and view every aspect of your case, upload documents, images, files etc.
